GOD’S PROMISES CAN CALM OUR FEAR
And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? FEAR NOT, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.” — Genesis 21:17
After being rejected by Abraham and Sarah, both Hagar and Ishmael was wandering in the wilderness without water. And Ishmael was dying without water. Seeing the situation of her son, the FEAR of losing her son gripped the heart of Hagar. She thought it was the last day for the boy on earth. Seeing the FEAR of Hagar, God from heaven send His promise to her saying……
“Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, FOR I WILL MAKE HIM A GREAT NATION.” Genesis 21:18
In another word God is promising her saying, “He is not going to die now because he will grow and become a great nation on earth.”
Hearing this promise from God, Hagar was greatly comforted. God calmed her fear through His promise.
Just like Hagar, very often we allow fear to rule us and blind us. Hagar feared thinking that her son is going to die but it didn’t happen at all. Most of the time we are living imagining things which doesn’t exists or not going to happen. As a result, we waste our days fearing unnecessary things. We pay more attention to FEAR than FAITH in Christ. Therefore we must overcome this fear in our life.
How to overcome this fear?
“This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word (PROMISE) has given me life.” Psalm 119:50
It’s through the promises of God. Whenever you face fear, turn your Bible and begin to seek for promise words and it will give you comfort and calm your fears. For we are commanded by God not to live by bread alone by every word of God.
None of God’s promises in your life will fall to the ground if you believe.
